I’ve been tagged, thanks to I Eat Snowman Poop. (I was told I have to give credit to Hammer, since he made it up. Kudos to Hammer for making me think about deeper things than spaghetti vomit.)
1. What is the stupidest mistake you have ever made with money? Not planning well enough for the future. Kids grow up fast. College is expensive. Nuff said.
2. Do you think taxes are unfair or do you think it’s your civic duty?
I think it’s my civic duty, but I think our government could do a better job of prioritizing. I do NOT want my taxes paying for any professional sports complexes!
3. Do you take risks and possibly turn your life upside down for new opportunity? No way. I’m a wussy. I need a safety net at all times.
4. Are you the alpha in your household? (Include pets)Hell yes! They are all afraid of me. People, canines and felines alike!
5. Do you compromise with your significant other or does someone always get their way? Someone usually gets their way. Sometimes it takes 14 years to get my way (as in the case of the expansion of our entryway,) but I am a fighter. I don’t give up. Mark is also a fighter as evidenced by the fact that we still do not have a pool in our back yard.
6. What curse word do you use most often? Asshole! (usually directed at other drivers, customers (it’s a mental accusation in this case, and sometimes my husband.)
7. Do you easily change your mind or are you dead set on most issues?
I change my mind easily. I don’t think most issues are black and white and I’ll change my mind in a heartbeat in the face of a good argument.
8. What famous person would you like to trade places with for one week? Paris Hilton. I’d love to have a whole week to spend ridiculous amounts of money, party like a rock star and just act like a total moron without fear of consequences.
9. If you could go back in time and tell one person off, who would it be and what would you say? It would be my last boyfriend.”Hi Ben! I’d just like to say that during the time we spent together, you were a controlling, jealous, mentally abusive asshole who, if you had your way would never allow me to have friends or spend time with my family. You almost had me in your eternal grasp ensuring a miserable and dark existence, if not for the fact that I developed a spine and walked away from you. Thanks for the “suicide attempt” though. If I didn’t think it was just another ploy to keep control of me, it might have been a touching gesture. (ummmm… Yeahhhhhh… Still harboring a little grudge there, I guess.)
10. Were you a good student or did you do just enough to get by? I was a good student, but I didn’t have to work hard at it. I once had a social studies class during an election year in which we were required to volunteer for the campaign of the candidate of our choice. If we didn’t work on a campaign, we had to complete a term paper instead. Failure to complete one or the other would result in dropping our grade one full grade for the quarter. I chose to do neither and still passed with flying colors.
11. If you could give one piece of advice to someone just starting out on their own, what would you tell them? Live your life. Follow your heart. Don’t listen to others all the time. Be a leader, not a follower. Take chances. (That’s more than one thing isn’t it? Let’s add one more…. Don’t always follow the rules!)
12. Are people basically good and honest or are most people opportunistic and predatory? I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt and see most of them as decent, honest people just trying to live their lives as best they know how.
13. Is there somebody you wish you could go back and apologize to? I think I’ve pretty much apologized for my wrong-doings along the way. I’m sure I’ve got plenty of opportunity for more apologies in the future though. Usually on a daily basis.
I feel guilty tagging anybody any more, so it’s open to anyone who wants to spill their guts on these issues.

Good answers Terri!
Number 9 was a doozy! Good thing you got rid of him and I don’t blame you for still holding a grudge.. I would be holding one forever on something like that.

“Nobody gets out alive anyway!” Ah, true. But then no one, in my hearing ever complained of being dead, and a whole bunch were not that impressed with imposed living. And while on the theme: the unborn aren’t marching in the streets either! (:o)

“Do you think taxes are unfair or do you think it’s your civic duty?” I would probably answer it the same way you did, though we’re living in different countries. As a Filipino, I think that paying taxes is a civic duty. However, the government should judiciously use such money or else they are just giving the public a reason to regret themselves for fulfilling such civic duty.

hii,
very nicely put. Life’s too short anyway to keep following rules. Follow the heart, it might not be the right thing given the circumstances at the moment but, what the heck, atleast you feel and peace with yourself. The future can take care of itself..
PS: I dot have a blog (yet) for you to check out or follow
(sorry.. just the wicked side of me)

Okay, did you date my ex? (#9) He threatened suicide whenever I’d tell him I was leaving him (about 20x), but never did. I guess I can be thankful for that. The 21st time I actually left for good and have never looked back.

Nice! I like how Q4 says ‘Include Pets’, as in my household it seems to be the pets that boss me around!

I feel somewhat honored as your blog came up under mine. I think you are a lovely writer, and I really enjoyed Parts I & II from Rude Awakenings. I would love to read part III . . . if you are so inclined.
I am inviting you to check out my bloggie blog. I am using it as a place to write my book – and I assumed that I would mostly be ignored. How nice to have people pop in and say they like what they see.

Great read. Question 4 would have to include my 23-year old cat. He bosses me about when he knows completely that he can’t hear me answer. It’s as annoying as those Ah-Ooo-Gaaah horns in the WW2 movies when the Germans are being attacked.
