I dreamed again last night and actually sort of remembered it! (Maybe this just takes practice!) I dreamed we were on vacation with our friends who own the big boat. In the dream we were obviously going somewhere to enjoy some time out on the boat, but it wasn’t a place I recognized. We had to drive over a long and wide bridge that crossed a big body of water and the bridge had no side rails. I was freaking out that we were going to drive off the bridge and fall into the water and drown inside the truck. So one our friends decided to keep me calm by playing a game of Name that Tune. All of us were competing to be the first to name the song and the artist. In real life, I’m pretty good at this game. In the dream I knew it was Duran Duran singing, but for the life of me could not come up with the name of the song. At that point I woke up and knew the song I was hearing in my dream was Rio. How’s that for a vivid dream?
I woke up feeling refreshed, rather than drained; a nice change of pace. The window above my head was open and the cool morning air was washing over me. After extracting myself from the tangle of my body pillow and a couple of cats, I went and gathered up a pair of running shorts, a t-shirt and some socks. I threw my hair up in a pony-tail and slipped on my running shoes. I tip-toed out the door quietly so as not to wake up the kids. When the garage door opened and I stepped out onto the driveway, the sun was already high in a bright blue, cloudless sky. There was a good breeze blowing. It was a perfect morning for a run.
And my run was about as perfect as could hope for! The train rolled through just as I was getting started, its rhythm helping me set my pace. The birds were trying to out-do one another and I never get tired of their singing. I usually end up struggling with my run in some respect, whether it be too little stamina, weak lungs, or side stitches. Usually it’s a side stitch that finally gets to me and I end up walking through it at some point. Not today. I felt strong and solid all the way through, right up until the final stretch, when a major side stitch set in. Today, I told that sucker I wasn’t going to let it win and I kept fighting it, even running a bit longer than normal. I felt awesome when I returned home! (Maybe I should have kept going? I’m trying to increase my distance and haven’t had much success yet.)
It’s shaping up to be a perfect day. The forecast calls for clear skies and temps around eighty. Kacey’s softball team is playing in the Tri-County tournament this weekend. They’re the number one seed! If anyone is looking for me, I can be found at the ball fields, lounging in my canvas chair, soaking up some sunshine and cheering on my girl and her team mates!

Freud would have a feild day with your dreams. “Hmm, a bridge without rails? Duran Duran singing Rio? Perhaps you were tramatized as a child. Hmmm”. Of course, it could be just a dream.
I find a run will clear the mind better than any therapy. Just wish you’d send some of that Minnesota weather down here. It’s already 84 and supposed to get near 100 today.
Enjoy the weekend!

The part of me that is a bit on the achy side today (my butt and legs) say that your running is insane but then the other part of me that realizes this is a great thing to be doing says “You go, girl!”
Jealousy will get me nowhere, ya know.
Very cloudy and gray here today as we are supposed to have thunderstorms later. Hope it holds off till late as the next village over is having their annual town-wide yard sale today and our church women’s group is serving hot dogs, drinks, brownies, etc. Maybe I’ll get out to check a few places out today if the waterworks doesn’t let fly and ruin that idea.
Have a great weekend and here’s hoping Kacey and her team have a big win today too.

I have to agree. Sounds like an awesome start to an awesome day. If you figure out the name of the song AFTER you wake up, does it still count?
I don’t know how you run the way you do. I can run for about five minutes before my chest starts hurting and I can’t breathe. Those multi-mile runs you do are impressive to say the least!

I can’t run anymore so my wife and I power walk. After years of running competitively my knees and legs can’t stand the pounding. Great read.

That was one of their songs that I liked.
Usually when I hear a song in my dream it’s playing on the TV or a radio where I’m sleeping.
It’s funny how the mind works.

Hmmm… dreaming of long bridges over wide bodies of water… Obviously, you have a fear of losing teeth. The Duran Duran song shows that.

Good dream. That makes perfect sense that you woke up refreshed, we dream at the end of a natural sleep cycle so that’s also why you remembered it; you were naturaly ready to wake up, not artificially woken mid-cycle by an alarm.
Great run also. I went running last night with my two eldest daughters! I am still alive that is the best that can be said of it…..

Interesting dream, but how could you forget a Duran, Duran tune?! Glad you had such a nice morning.

Wow – I can’t wait for the day that we can sleep with the windows open again – we’d wake up in a sea of sweat if we tried that now!

This is the part of running that is enjoyable. It is something that s hard for non-runners to understand. You do a pretty good job of describing it though.
Just slow down on the runs and enjoy the morning to get more distance. You might also have to set a completely different route to change things up a bit.

Funny how you can make something happen when you want to.
Nothing nicer than greeting a beautiful day!
